Edwin Pell Speaks
Edwin Pell has criticized the leading Democratic contender for making the following statements:
"we need an aggressive and comprehensive approach that requires the following priorities"
"Empower our military to bring the fight to the terrorist cells"
You may read more of what Mr. Pell has to say here.
I am very glad that candidate Edwin Pell took the time to comment on my blog tonight. I really like his platform calling for energy independence, social security safety, and have enjoyed visiting his website. I actually have wanted to touch base with him for quite some time. I feel bad that the media and other blogs have basically ignored Mr. Pell's campaign, as well as the campaigns of Guller and Walters. All three of the anti-establishment Democrats bring up some very valid and legitimate points which should be brought forth to the public. I totally agree with Mr. Pell about this war in Iraq - it must end immediately and I personally oppose any more efforts to continue this so-called mission to bring "freedom" and "democracy" to Iraq.
However, I will not publically criticize Mrs. Gillibrand or use this blog to trash her campaign. I want to provide a blog with neutral coverage toward all four of the Democratic candidates running for Congress in this district (Mr. Pell, Mr. Guller, Mr. Walters, and of course, Mrs. Gillibrand), unlike the other blog covering this race which refuses to even discuss the campaigns of the anti-establishment Dems. (By the way, I was kicked off of that blog for discussing the "other" campaigns) I feel any infighting on the Democratic side, or bashing of any Democratic candidates only helps to aid Mr. Sweeney and the Republicans.
I appreciated hearing from you and I hope you come back soon and post more comments. Please, though, stick to discussing the positive aspects of your own campaign and avoid attacks on the other candidates.

How do I email you?
I've not heard anyone bashing other democratic candidates. As for 20TrueBlue, I joined that blog as a Gillibrand supporter, I'm glad that it is keeping its focus intact.
If there is a primary the Democratic voters get to decide who will be Sweeney's challanger. For my part, I've met Gillibrand, she announced early, she attended many democratic events in our county and she has earned my support 100 and 10%. I support her today and if she did not win the primary of course I would support the democrat that did win it against Sweeney. But we all have a right to choose who we want to endorse and support right now.
I've seen Gillibrand on the campaign trail talking to farmers and teachers - she is amazing. I have much admiration for her people skills, intelligence and her compassion.
There is never going to be a candidate that any one of us is going to agree with on 100% of the issues. For my part, I've determined that Gillibrand is a person that I trust to represent me. I believe she will be a far better spokesperson for us than Sweeney and that she is doing what it takes to beat this opponent. She is working at this constantly and is doing what it votes.
I'm proud to support her. Just because I don't support another of the democratic candidates doesn't mean I'm bashing them. What is this like Bush thinking now - you're either with us or you're against us?
That is not true. I've seen what I need to see to make my decision and I stand behind it. If the voters choose someone else, then I will do what I can to support that person if they want my help.
However, as a realist, according to OpenSecrets at the last reporting Sweeney had over a million dollars. Gillibrand has been able to raise over $700,000 and the other dems that reported all showed less than $7,000. There is just no way that a candidate can defeat this incumbent without the kind of funding that Gillibrand has.
Personally, I've given Gillibrand contributions because in my opinion, she has the skill set required to win and to do the job when she is in office.
I'm confident that she will win a primary if there is one. I wish that other dems would recognize that Gillibrand is the strongest candidate so that we don't waste funds fighting one another that should be spend fighting our Republican opponent. But it is a free country and anyone can run in the primary, that doesn't mean I have to support them all.
PS, sorry for a few spots of bad grammer there. I've not had any coffee this AM!
My e-mail address is colin_neal@hotmail.com.
Thanks.
Being anti anything is the kiss of death in American politics. I am pro-people rather than anti-establishment, pro-peace rather than anti-war, pro-clean money clean elections rather than anti-money, pro-American Service Men and Women rather than anti-global corporation stealing of natural resources, pro-foreign workers (we must have a world minimum wage say $2 per hour through the WTO) rather than anti-foreign worker, pro-global trade (we must have worker safety standards and environmental standards through the WTO) rather than anti-global corporation, pro-energy independence rather than anti-oil companies, etc...
